• Norway (2026): Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Norway’s highest honour under the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit – the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit – by King Harald V in a special ceremony in Oslo, marking the 32nd international honour received by the Indian PM during his tenure. The award was presented during PM Modi’s two-day visit to Norway as part of his ongoing five-nation tour. The award is Norway’s highest honour bestowed on foreign Heads of Government, and is conferred in recognition of outstanding service in the interest of Norway and humankind. The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit was established by King Olav V in 1985 and is awarded to both Norwegian and foreign nationals for outstanding service in the interests of Norway and humanity.
